TONE OF VOICE
A lot of the copy I produced for the Stolichnaya website was written in the
first person, as though it was narrated by a Russian—although without
resorting to dodgy accents, anachronisms and clichéd bad English. The
example below is a small section of the timeline, which was written "straight".
Mainly, it consisted of general pieces for the site—mini-features, timelines and suchlike.
A STOLI TIMELINE
An in-depth timeline, recounting the development and history of Stolichnaya vodka, from its inception to the present. Including fascinating facts about soldiers' vodka rations during World War 2.
FROM GRAIN TO GLASS, THE ANIMATION
...was a look at how the vodka is and has always been made, from harvesting the grain in the fields, to the brewing, fermenting and refinement processes, until it reaches your glass. Which, among other things, explained how the vodka was based on the Standard for Russian vodka.
(Yes it is). The Russian Vodka Standard was established by chemist Dimitri Mendeleyev—best known as the creator of the Periodic Table of Elements.
Feel free to argue humorously about which was more valuable to humanity.
